The Senate voted on other proposals, including one that said changing global temperatures are the result of human activity. This was the big one, and it received an affirmative vote of 59-40 -- but needed 60 to pass.

Fifteen Republicans and all Democrats voted yes on that; unfortunately, North Carolina Sens. Richard Burr and Thom Tillis were not among them. So it is officially their position that human activity does not contribute to changing global temperatures.
