U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., also made a point last week of visiting UNC to confer with Routh and Chancellor Carol Folt about the deal.
 
Afterwards, his office issued a statement quoting him as saying the partnership “represents the future, a new market-based approach for biomedical research and industry to team up to not only treat diseases, but eradicate them.”
