President Obama's Disastrous Iran Deal

This week, we learned that President Obama's $400 million cash payment to Iran several months ago was contingent on the release of a group of American prisoners. Despite months of denying this claim, it is now clear the Obama Administration paid ransom to the world's number one state sponsor of terrorism. To this day, President Obama continues to deliberately mislead the American public about the disastrous Iran nuclear deal.

Security Situation in Israel

During the August work period, I spent a week in Israel to learn more about the nation's security situation, the refugee crisis in the Middle East, the shared national security objectives between our two nations, and combatting the spread of radical Islamic terrorism. It was clear during the trip that in a region consumed by terrorism and oppression, Israel stands out as a shining beacon of hope and freedom.

‘Us vs. them’ rhetoric toward police only divides nation

Read my op-ed in the Charlotte Observer about the state of police relations in America. Our police officers make far too many sacrifices to be mistreated and receive threats from the very same people they risk their lives for. To indiscriminately cast all law enforcement as enemies of our communities is to engage in an attempt to divide our nation by turning Americans against each other. We can no longer tolerate the “us versus them” rhetoric that poisons our national discourse. For the majority of Americans who want solutions, let’s work together to find common ground to reach a shared goal: giving every American the opportunity to live in a safe, peaceful community.

Zika Update

Last month, Senate Democrats blocked the VA/Military Construction Appropriations bill, which also includes $1.1 billion in funding to combat the Zika virus and develop a vaccine. I urge Senate Democrats to do what it is right to keep Americans safe and vote in favor of the Zika funding once Congress returns to Washington.
