Capitol Hill is mourning the loss of former U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC).
Hagan served one-term in the U.S. Senate from 2009-2015. Hagan died at her Greensboro home on Monday, following a long battle with a tick-borne disease.
“Susan and I are absolutely heartbroken by Senator Kay Hagan’s sudden passing and we extend our condolences and prayers to her loving family and many friends," wrote Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) the man who unseated her in 2014. "We join all North Carolinians in remembering her dedicated and distinguished record of public service to our state and nation.”
