Update on Democrats’ Partisan $1.9 Trillion Spending Bill
The reality is we still have more than $1 trillion of unspent funds from the previous COVID relief bills, which is why I co-introduced an amendment with 10 of my Republican colleagues that would have allocated $650 billion in targeted relief spending that would help those who need it most and provided the funds necessary to respond to the pandemic, including expanding testing and deploying vaccines.

Working for all North Carolinians
I am working hard to bring relief to North Carolinians as we continue to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. I joined nine of my Republican colleagues to outline a new COVID-19 relief proposal that we hope will gain wide bipartisan support. The plan includes relief for vaccine distribution and testing as well as help for schools, small businesses, and individuals. This week, I met with President Biden and Vice President Harris to discuss the plan. It was an excellent meeting, and we are very appreciative that in his first official meeting in the Oval Office, President Biden chose to spend so much time with us discussing the response to the COVID-19 crisis. We are hopeful that a COVID-19 relief bill will be agreed upon soon.

Update on Additional Round of Direct Payments for North Carolinians
With the recent passage of the COVID-19 relief bill, hardworking North Carolinians will receive another round of direct payments in response to the coronavirus pandemic. I want to make sure you have the most up-to-date information on when and how you might receive yours.

10 Wins for North Carolina
My top priority has been protecting the physical health and economic future of North Carolinians. I have worked hard to introduce legislation that will benefit every North Carolinian and pushed for follow-up relief to help families and businesses in need, as many are still suffering from the effects of this pandemic.

Update on the FDA-approved COVID vaccine
I applaud the thousands of Americans who have participated in clinical trials, including many North Carolinians. The success of the vaccine will be ultimately dependent on whether the majority of Americans elect to participate.

Giving Thanks for Military Families, Servicemembers, and Veterans
I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for all that you’ve done and all that you continue to do. We owe a debt to each of you that we can never repay, but as long as I’m in the U.S. Senate, I will continue to honor your service by working with my colleagues to do right by you and your families.

Happy Veterans Day
There’s more than a million veterans in North Carolina who have sworn the oath to defend our freedoms and we owe you a debt of gratitude that we can never fully repay. As long as I’m your U.S. Senator, I’m going to continue to fight for you.

Listening to North Carolinians
For those who have recovered from COVID-19, like me, I would encourage you to join me to defeat this virus. I’m proud to be enrolled in two antibody studies and am scheduled to donate plasma to help however I can to save lives and end COVID-19. I hope you’ll consider doing the same.

Americans Should Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine First
Right now, researchers and drug makers are working tirelessly to develop a safe and effective vaccine to combat COVID-19. Since this pandemic began, I have worked on a bipartisan basis to protect the health and safety of North Carolinians, including supporting billions of dollars to produce a safe and effective vaccine as quickly as possible.

Promoting Public/Private Partnerships to Advance Testing and Combat Coronavirus
As we continue to battle COVID-19 and work towards returning to normal, we must prioritize widespread testing availability. Diagnostic and antibody testing is a foundational step in identifying hotspots and understanding the extent of community spread so we can make informed decisions to combat an outbreak. The mass production of tests around the country is a result of long-lasting public/private partnerships between federal health agencies, academic medical centers, and clinical laboratories, among others, that allow for a quicker, more effective response to public health emergencies.
