Visiting with North Carolinians
Last week, I spent time in western North Carolina visiting with constituents and meeting with local businesses and organizations.
Listening to North Carolinians
Recently, I spent time in North Carolina visiting with constituents and meeting with local businesses to discuss issues facing our communities.
Honoring the Service and Sacrifice of Law Enforcement
The demonization of law enforcement will have lasting consequences, and it will ultimately make all of us less safe. This is why Congress must do everything we can to support law enforcement and stop efforts to demean and demonize them. The best way to do that is to recognize law enforcement for their remarkable service and the dangers they face to protect us.
President Biden's First 100 Days: A Partisan, Far-Left Agenda
Instead of leading on his instincts to bring America together, President Biden has followed his advisor’s recommendation to go it alone. He’s pushed a highly partisan, ideologically-driven agenda.
Addressing the Crisis at the Southern Border
This crisis must be addressed. The conditions are inhumane and unacceptable, and I stand ready to work with the administration to secure our border and end this humanitarian and security crisis.
Working to Protect our Brave Men and Women in Blue
I have always been a strong supporter of our brave men and women in uniform and am always proud to back the blue. This week, I reintroduced the Protect and Serve Act, legislation that would create federal penalties for individuals who deliberately target local, state, or federal law enforcement officers with violence.
Update on Democrats’ Partisan $1.9 Trillion Spending Bill
The reality is we still have more than $1 trillion of unspent funds from the previous COVID relief bills, which is why I co-introduced an amendment with 10 of my Republican colleagues that would have allocated $650 billion in targeted relief spending that would help those who need it most and provided the funds necessary to respond to the pandemic, including expanding testing and deploying vaccines.
Working for all North Carolinians
I am working hard to bring relief to North Carolinians as we continue to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. I joined nine of my Republican colleagues to outline a new COVID-19 relief proposal that we hope will gain wide bipartisan support. The plan includes relief for vaccine distribution and testing as well as help for schools, small businesses, and individuals. This week, I met with President Biden and Vice President Harris to discuss the plan. It was an excellent meeting, and we are very appreciative that in his first official meeting in the Oval Office, President Biden chose to spend so much time with us discussing the response to the COVID-19 crisis. We are hopeful that a COVID-19 relief bill will be agreed upon soon.
