North Carolina is reeling in the destructive aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, which has caused the tragic loss of life, power outages for hundreds of thousands of residents, and massive flooding and wind damage to property owners across Central and Eastern North Carolina. The devastation left behind cannot be understated. If you have sustained severe storm or flood property damage from Hurricane Matthew, I encourage you to apply for federal disaster assistance. Below is information to apply and more can be found at tillis.senate.gov. If you experience any issues with FEMA after you apply, make sure your next call is to my office at 919-856-4630.

North Carolina Flood Information

Governor McCrory has received a federal disaster declaration for thirty-two counties. They are Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Brunswick, Camden, Carteret, Chowan, Columbus, Craven, Cumberland, Currituck, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Hoke, Hyde, Johnston, Lenoir, Nash, New Hanover, Onslow, Pamlico, Pasquotank, Pender, Perquimans, Pitt, Robeson, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne, and Wilson counties. These counties have been approved for federal funding to help augment the costs of responding to the storm and helps to pay for storm debris removal.

The declaration also approved 14 counties for individual assistance to help homeowners and renters repair or replace damaged homes. Those counties include: Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Edgecombe, Hoke, Johnston, Lenoir, Nash, Pitt, Robeson, Wayne, and Wilson counties.

Please note you may still apply for aid if you live in a county not included in the federal disaster declaration. More counties are expected to become eligible for disaster assistance once damage assessments are concluded.
