Tillis Gets Medical Clearance to Resume In-Person Activities, Will Participate in Antibody Studies to Help Defeat COVID
I want to thank my doctors who provided guidance throughout my quarantine since testing positive for COVID-19. I feel very fortunate that I had a mild case with few symptoms, and I want to thank North Carolinians for their prayers and well-wishes. As we all know, COVID-19 is a very contagious and deadly virus, and I am proud to enroll in the antibody research study through Atrium Health and Wake Forest Baptist Health and volunteer to participate in UNC Chapel Hill’s immunology study and help however I can to end COVID. I look forward to returning to Washington and participating in-person at the Senate Judiciary hearings and confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

Tillis Discusses Role of Supreme Court in Opening Remarks of Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Confirmation Hearing
“Judge Barrett’s rulings aren’t meant to be for or against a particular policy outcome. She’s not a legislator, that is supposed to be our job. However, when the minority party cannot get their bad policies passed, they turn to the courts and demand that judges interpret the law not as written—but as they prefer to be.”

Tillis & Blackburn Introduce Legislation to Protect COVID-19 Vaccine Research from Foreign Hackers
These attempts to steal American intellectual property related to COVID-19 is a threat to our national security and economic health. Congress must give the President the tools to combat these bad actors, and this legislation will allow the Administration to identify and target those who work to steal research on a COVID-19 vaccine.

Tillis Asks CBO to Determine How Much Money Nancy Pelosi’s Giveaway to Illegal Immigrants Will Cost American Taxpayers
We have passed landmark legislation to ensure that private businesses keep American citizens on their payrolls, every single at-risk American receives a stimulus payment, and that states, local governments, and health care providers have the resources they need to combat this pandemic. The swift actions taken by Congress and President Trump have helped minimize the damage caused by this virus and protected the economic livelihood of millions of Americans.

Senator Tillis Tests Positive for COVID-19
Over the last few months, I’ve been routinely tested for COVID-19, including testing negative last Saturday, but tonight my rapid antigen test came back positive. I will be following the recommendations of my doctor and will be self-isolating at home for 10 days and notifying those I’ve been in close contact with. Thankfully, I have no symptoms and I feel well. As we all know, COVID-19 is a very contagious and deadly virus, especially because many carriers are asymptomatic. I encourage all North Carolinians to follow the recommendations of medical experts, including wearing a mask, washing hands, and practicing social distancing. For any North Carolinian who believes they were exposed to the virus or starts to display symptoms, please call your doctor, self-isolate, and get tested to protect those around you.

Schumer and Senate Democrats Block Bipartisan Tillis Legislation that Forgives PPP Loans For Small Businesses
In the spring, I was proud to support the CARES Act that included the Paycheck Protection Program so businesses in North Carolina could make payroll, keep employees on their benefits and health care, and try to weather the storm while closures were happening across the country, closing down businesses or dramatically reducing business.

Tillis Meets with Judge Amy Coney Barrett
I had a great meeting with Judge Amy Coney Barrett, which reaffirmed what a supremely qualified nominee she is, and why I look forward to getting her confirmed. Judge Barrett made it clear that her duty is to uphold the Constitution and interpret the law as written, and not to legislate personal political beliefs from the bench. Judge Barrett is exactly the kind of fair-minded and impartial justice North Carolinians expect and deserve to have on the Supreme Court.
