Today, Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Richard Burr (R-NC) applauded the Senate Judiciary Committee for advancing the nomination of Andrew Murray as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina. Mr. Murray, who was nominated by President Trump at the recommendation of Senators Tillis and Burr, now moves before the full Senate for consideration.

“Andrew Murray has a decorated career in public service between his 35-year career in the United States Coast Guard and most recently as the District Attorney for the largest prosecutorial district in North Carolina,” said Senator Thom Tillis. “I applaud the Judiciary Committee for confirming Andrew and urge the Senate to quickly approve his nomination so he can begin serving the people of Western North Carolina.”

“Andrew Murray’s leadership abilities and legal expertise make him the ideal fit to lead the United States’ Attorney’s Office in the Western District,” said Senator Richard Burr. “He will make a fair, thoughtful United States Attorney, and it is my hope that he will quickly be confirmed.”

Since 2011, Andrew Murray has served as the elected District Attorney of Mecklenburg County. He has long and distinguished career in the United States Coast Guard, serving 35 years as an active duty and reserve officer.

Mr. Murray earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law and began his law career at the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office, where he served as an Assistant District Attorney.
