Today, at the recommendation of North Carolina Senators Thom Tillis and Richard Burr, President Trump announced his intention to nominate Andrew Murray to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

Since 2011, Andrew Murray has served as the elected District Attorney of Mecklenburg County. He has long and distinguished career in the United States Coast Guard, serving 35 years as an active duty and reserve officer. Mr. Murray earned his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law and began his law career at the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office, where he served as an Assistant District Attorney.

“Andrew Murray has done an outstanding job as the District Attorney for Mecklenburg County and has been an effective leader in his community,” said Senator Thom Tillis. “Andrew has a decorated career in public service between his 35-year career in the United States Coast Guard and most recently as the District Attorney for the largest prosecutorial district in North Carolina, and I am pleased that he will continue serving the Western District of North once he is confirmed.”

“I am proud to see Mr. Murray’s nomination to be U.S. Attorney in North Carolina,” said Senator Richard Burr. “Mr. Murray’s career has centered on public service, from his three decades in the United States Coast Guard to his most recent role as the District Attorney of Mecklenburg County. I am confident that Mr. Murray’s leadership abilities and professional experiences make him an excellent fit for this next step in public service.”
