Tillis Statement On the Governor Cooper’s Stay-At-Home Order
We are all in this together, and in order to protect the health of North Carolinians and get through this crisis as quickly as possible, we must all do our part to contain community spread over the next several weeks. I’ve had discussions with Governor Cooper about the challenge of protecting both the physical and economic health of the state, and the Governor made the difficult, but correct decision to issue a statewide stay-at-home order.

The bill I supported will provide every individual in North Carolina who reported taxes in 2018, 2019, or revenue through social security, will be eligible for a one time check in the amount of $1,200 per adult, $500 per child, subject to certain limits at the upper scale of the income.

Tillis Co-Sponsored Bill Protecting GI Bill Benefits for Student Veterans During Coronavirus Crisis Signed Into Law
The UNC system, Duke, and other North Carolina schools made the right decision to move to online classes in response to coronavirus, but this resulted in an unintended consequence of student veterans potentially facing reduced GI Bill benefits. I am proud we were able to work in a bipartisan manner and quickly pass this legislation to protect these much-deserved benefits for students who served our nation.
