Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) released the following statement after Senate Democrats once again filibustered the Military Construction-Veterans Affairs-Zika Appropriations Bill, which would provide $1.1 billion to combat the Zika virus and support efforts to develop a vaccine:

“Today, the Army announced that five servicemembers based out of Fort Bragg contracted Zika while serving overseas, and Senate Democrats proceeded to block Zika funding for the third time. They continue to follow the lead of Harry Reid and support his flip-flop from originally supporting Zika funding to opposing it. This obstructionism will have dire consequences, including the potential to stall vaccine development efforts and cause the Zika virus to reemerge as an even bigger crisis next year.”
