WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) released the following statement after President Obama released his Fiscal Year 2016 budget proposing $2.1 trillion in tax hikes and $8.5 trillion in additional debt:

“The President’s budget would move our nation in the wrong direction with bigger government, higher taxes and trillions in additional debt. North Carolina families have rightly lost patience with the federal government’s ever-tightening squeeze on their wallets. Taxpayers struggle every day to control spending and balance their budgets to make ends meet, and it’s time for Washington to do the same. I’m ready to work with my colleagues and the President to pass a budget that prioritizes hardworking taxpayers and rolls back federal overreach.”
