WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) joined Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures to discuss Hurricane Dorian’s impact on North Carolina.

Watch the interview HERE.

Tillis on Hurricane Dorian’s impact on North Carolina:

“We were hit hard. The Outer Banks and Ocracoke Island had a number of people who decided to stay there and help with recovery, our national park was affected as well as the infrastructure within our seashore. The damage really spanned the entire coast between the water, wind, and tornado damage. We will be going back to DC tomorrow to make sure we secure the funds necessary to help North Carolina recover.”

Tillis on the recovery efforts in North Carolina and the Bahamas:

“It’s a sad situation, our hearts go out to everyone affected by this storm on the east coast and the Bahamas. North Carolina is focused on what we need to do to recover from Hurricane Dorian as well as previous storms like Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence. There are still hundreds of millions of dollars that have yet to be spent to get North Carolina back on track from those storms. Farmers were particularly hit hard by Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Dorian touched a lot of the same regions. We have a lot of work to do in North Carolina and we want to make sure the Bahamas also have the support they need to continue their recovery.”
