WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) John Cornyn (R-TX), Jerry Moran (R-KS), and James Lankford (R-OK), who traveled to El Paso, Texas together earlier this year to see the border crisis firsthand, released the following statement on the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote on the Secure the Border Act:

The Secure the Border Act is a first step in the process of addressing the humanitarian and national security crisis at our southern border. As Title 42 comes to an end, this bill is a welcomed starting point for the Senate to begin discussing border security and enforcement legislation. Drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations are exploiting our broken border and immigration system—trafficking children, smuggling dangerous narcotics into our communities, threatening public safety, and violating human rights. Without action, these problems will only get worse. Congress must devote the time to get these policies right, fix our broken border, and ensure we have the resources to make our immigration system orderly, humane, and legal.”
